Adhyāya 52 (Sabhā-parva): Vidura Invites Yudhiṣṭhira to Hastināpura for the Dice Match

दशान्यानि सहस््राणि यतीनामूर्थ्वरेतसाम्‌ । भुज्जते रुक्मपात्रीभिय्युधिष्ठिरनिवेशने,इसी प्रकार युधिष्ठिरके महलमें दूसरे दस हजार ऊर्ध्वरेता यति भी सोनेकी थालियोंमें भोजन करते हैं

daśānyāni sahasrāṇi yatīnām ūrdhvaretasām | bhuñjate rukmapātrībhiḥ yudhiṣṭhira-niveśane ||

Duryodhana nói: “Tại dinh thất của Yudhiṣṭhira, lại có thêm mười nghìn vị khổ hạnh, thệ nguyện giữ phạm hạnh trọn đời, cũng được nuôi dưỡng như thế, dùng bữa bằng những khí cụ bằng vàng.” Trong mạch truyện, câu này nhấn mạnh quy mô rộng lớn của lòng hiếu khách vương giả và công đức công khai của Yudhiṣṭhira, đồng thời hé lộ ánh nhìn ganh đua của Duryodhana: sự thịnh vượng mang sắc thái dharma ấy trở thành mầm ghen ghét và căng thẳng chính trị.
