प्रकीर्णका विप्रकीर्णाश्न॒ राजन् प्रवालमुक्तातरलाश्व हारा: । राजन! हाथीकी पीठपर बिछाये जानेवाले कम्बल या झूल, पताका, वस्त्र, आभूषण, किरीटमाला, उज्ज्वल मुकुट, श्वेत चामर, मूँगे और मोतियोंके हार--से सब-के-सब इधर- उधर बिखरे पड़े हैं
prakīrṇakā viprakīrṇāś ca rājan pravāla-muktā-taralāśva-hārāḥ |
Śalya nói: “Tâu Đại vương, mọi thứ đều nằm rải rác trong cảnh hỗn loạn—không chỉ tử thi mà cả những vật tượng trưng cho vương quyền. Chuỗi san hô và ngọc trai, đồ trang sức lấp lánh của chiến mã, cùng bao phù hiệu phẩm trật huy hoàng đều vương vãi khắp bốn bề. Cảnh tượng ấy phơi bày chân lý đạo đức của chiến tranh: khi dharma bị bỏ rơi, kiêu hãnh và huy hoàng nghi lễ sụp đổ thành hoang tàn, và trận chiến biến thành sự tàn phá mù quáng.”
