अनेन सत्येन निहन्त्वयं शर: सुसंहित: कर्णमरिं ममोर्जितम् । इत्यूचिवांस्तं प्रमुमोच बाणं धनंजय: कर्णवधाय घोरम्
anena satyena nihantv ayaṁ śaraḥ susaṁhitaḥ karṇam ariṁ mamorjitam | ity ūcivāṁs taṁ pramumoca bāṇaṁ dhanaṁjayaḥ karṇavadhāya ghoram ||
Sañjaya nói: “Bởi sức mạnh của chân lý này, nguyện mũi tên đã được đặt vững chắc kia hạ sát Karṇa—kẻ thù hùng mạnh của ta.” Nói xong, Dhanañjaya (Arjuna) phóng ra mũi tên ghê gớm ấy để giết Karṇa. Câu kệ đặt cái chết ấy không như cơn giận thuần túy, mà như một hành động được niêm ấn bằng lời khẳng định trang nghiêm về satya (chân thật), gọi dậy sức mạnh đạo lý giữa những tất yếu tàn khốc của chiến tranh.
