तौ दृष्टवा पुरुषव्याप्रौ रथस्थौ रथिनां वरौ | प्रगृहीतमहाचापौ शरशक्तिध्वजायुतौ
tau dṛṣṭvā puruṣavyāghrau rathasthau rathināṁ varau | pragṛhīta-mahācāpau śara-śakti-dhvajāyutau ||
Sañjaya nói: Thấy hai dũng sĩ như hổ—đứng trên chiến xa, bậc nhất trong hàng chiến xa—mỗi người nắm một cây cung lớn, đều có tên, lao và cờ hiệu, quân sĩ hai bên đều tràn đầy hân hoan. Cuộc gặp ấy được khắc họa như một trận quyết đấu mang tầm vũ trụ: hai địch thủ dường như ngang tài ngang sức, bị thôi thúc bởi ý chí giết và ý chí thắng.
