अगम्यरूपा पृथिवी मांसशोणितकर्दमा | भारत! वहाँ कर्णद्वारा मारे गये हाथियों और घोड़ोंकी लाशोंसे पृथ्वीपर चलना असम्भव हो गया। रक्त और मांसकी कीच जम गयी
agamyarūpā pṛthivī māṃsaśoṇitakardamā | bhārata! tatra karṇadvārā māritaiḥ hastibhiś ca aśvaiś ca śavasaṃghaiḥ pṛthivyāṃ gamanaṃ aśakyaṃ babhūva | rakta-māṃsayoḥ kardamaḥ sañjajñe |
Sañjaya thưa: Hỡi Bharata, mặt đất nơi ấy trở nên không thể đi qua, hình dạng cũng chẳng còn nhận ra—biến thành bùn lầy của thịt và máu. Xác voi và ngựa do Karṇa giết chất thành đống khiến không ai còn có thể di chuyển trên nền đất; một lớp bùn nhão của máu và thịt đã đóng lại.
