यथाप्रतिज्ञं योधानां राधेय: कृतवानपि । कुरूणामथ सर्वेषां कर्ण: शत्रुनिष्‌दन:

Transliteration

yathāpratijñaṃ yodhānāṃ rādheyaḥ kṛtavān api | kurūṇām atha sarveṣāṃ karṇaḥ śatruniṣūdanaḥ ||

Translation

Sañjaya nói: Đúng như lời thệ nguyện, Rādheya (Karṇa) đã thực hiện điều mình đã hứa đối với các chiến binh. Rồi Karṇa—kẻ sát địch—bắt tay vào việc tiêu diệt mọi kẻ thù của nhà Kuru, hành động với quyết tâm lạnh lùng của một dũng tướng bị ràng buộc bởi lời nói của chính mình, giữa sức nặng đạo lý của chiến tranh.
