ततोडअर्जुनो हयान् हत्वा सर्वास्तस्य महात्मन: । चकार समरे भूमिं शोणितौघतरज्ञषिणीम्
tato 'rjuno hayān hatvā sarvāṁs tasya mahātmanaḥ | cakāra samare bhūmiṁ śoṇitaughatararṣiṇīm ||
Sañjaya nói: Rồi Arjuna giết hết ngựa của vị dũng tướng ấy, biến mặt đất chiến trường thành một vùng bị dòng máu cuồn cuộn quét qua. Lời kể nhấn mạnh gánh nặng đạo lý u ám của chiến tranh: dù giao chiến vì bổn phận, kết quả trước mắt vẫn là tàn phá, và tài nghệ được đo bằng cái giá khủng khiếp, không thể đảo ngược.
