जल त्यक्त्वा प्रधावन्ति क्रोशमाना: परस्परम् । “अर्जुन! कितने ही योद्धा पानी लानेके लिये गये
jalaṁ tyaktvā pradhāvanti krośamānāḥ parasparam |
Sañjaya nói: Vứt cả nước đi, họ chạy tán loạn khắp nơi, gọi nhau trong tiếng kêu gào. Cảnh ấy phơi bày sự tàn nhẫn và vô ích mà chiến tranh sinh ra: nỗ lực cứu mạng đến quá muộn, và nỗi đau lấn át bổn phận; những người mang nước trở về thấy chính thân tộc mình nằm bất tỉnh, liền quăng nước tại chỗ rồi gào khóc, chạy cuống cuồng bốn phía.
