अर्जुनस्य शीघ्रप्रयाणं भीम-शकुनियुद्धं च

प्रत्यदृश्यत् ततः कर्ण: पज्चालांस्त्वरितो ययौ | उस समय पाण्डवों तथा हमलोगोंमेंसे कोई भी योद्धा युद्धसे मुँह फेरकर पीछे हटता नहीं दिखायी दिया। तब कर्णने तुरंत ही पांचालोंपर आक्रमण किया ।। ४० $ ।। तस्मिन् क्षणे नरश्रेष्ठ गजवाजिजनक्षय:
pratyadṛśyat tataḥ karṇaḥ pāñcālāṁs tvarito yayau |
Sañjaya nói: Thấy rằng không ai trong hàng ngũ các Pāṇḍava hay quân ta có vẻ quay lưng rời trận, Karṇa liền tức khắc lao nhanh vào quân Pāñcāla, thúc trận thế tiến lên trong đà chiến cuộc không ngừng nghỉ.
