कृष्णोपदेशः, अर्जुनस्य क्षमा-याचनम्, कर्णवध-अनुज्ञा

श्रूयन्ते विविधा राजन् नामान्युद्धिश्य भारत । भरतवंशी नरेश! उस समय नाम ले-लेकर गरजते हुए शूरवीरोंकी भाँति-भाँतिकी बातें अविच्छिन्न-रूपसे सुनायी पड़ती थीं
śrūyante vividhā rājan nāmāny uddiśya bhārata | bharatavaṃśī nareśa! usa samaya nāma le-lekara garjate hue śūravīroṃ kī bhānti-bhānti kī bāteṃ avicchinna-rūpa se sunāyī paṛtī thīṃ
Sañjaya nói: “Muôn tâu Đại vương, hỡi Bharata, người ta nghe vang lên đủ mọi tiếng hô—các dũng sĩ gầm lên, gọi tên nhau. Hỡi bậc quân vương dòng Bharata, khi ấy chiến địa không ngừng dội lại những tiếng thét và lời đối đáp muôn vẻ, như tiếng gọi sấm sét của những anh hùng xướng danh nhau.”
