अस्त्रयुद्धे द्रौणिपार्थसंघर्षः — Karṇa’s Bhārgavāstra and the Search for Yudhiṣṭhira
Chapter 45
कृप: शारद्वतो राजन् मागधाश्व तरस्विन: । सात्वत: कृतवर्मा च दक्षिणं पक्षमाश्रिता:
sañjaya uvāca |
kṛpaḥ śāradvato rājan māgadhāśva-tarasvinaḥ |
sātvataḥ kṛtavarmā ca dakṣiṇaṃ pakṣam āśritāḥ ||
Sañjaya thưa: Tâu Đại vương, Kṛpa Śāradvata, đội kỵ binh Magadha nhanh như gió, và Kṛtavarmā thuộc dòng Sātvata đã chiếm giữ cánh phải của trận thế.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights collective military duty: experienced leaders and swift cavalry are stationed to secure a flank, showing that in war individual prowess is subordinated to protecting the formation and fulfilling assigned responsibility—an aspect of kṣatriya-dharma within a morally fraught conflict.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra the Kaurava deployment: Kṛpa, Magadhan swift horsemen, and Kṛtavarmā occupy the right wing of the battle-array, indicating a planned defensive arrangement for that side of the formation.
