कर्णपरर्वणि त्रयोचत्वारिंशदध्यायः (Karṇa-parva Adhyāya 43) — Kṛṣṇa’s Battlefield Assessment and the Reversal Around Bhīma
यदन्यो<प्युक्तवानस्मान् ब्राह्मण: कुरुसंसदि । शल्य! इस बातको अच्छी तरह समझ लो। हर्षका विषय है कि इसके सम्बन्धमें मैं तुम्हें कुछ और बातें बता रहा हूँ, जिन्हें दूसरे ब्राह्मणने कौरव-सभामें हमलोगोंसे कहा था --
yad anyo 'py uktavān asmān brāhmaṇaḥ kuru-saṁsadi | śalya, etad suṣṭhu vijānīhi; harṣasya viṣayo 'yaṁ yat tasya sambandhe 'haṁ tubhyaṁ kiñcid aparam api vakṣyāmi—yāny anyena brāhmaṇena kaurava-sabhāyām asmābhyaḥ proktāni |
Karna nói: “Hỡi Śalya, hãy hiểu cho rõ điều này. Thật đáng thỏa lòng rằng, nhân chuyện ấy, ta còn có thể kể cho ngươi thêm nữa—những điều một vị Bà-la-môn khác từng nói với chúng ta trong hội trường Kuru. Nay ta nhắc lại lời ấy để bày rõ ý nghĩa trước mặt ngươi.”
कर्ण उवाच
Karna frames his point by appealing to authoritative speech heard in the royal assembly: counsel should be understood clearly, and past admonitions—especially from respected voices like a Brahmin—can be recalled to guide present conduct amid conflict.
In the midst of the Karna–Śalya exchange, Karna addresses Śalya and introduces additional remarks connected to their situation, citing what an unnamed Brahmin previously told them in the Kuru court; he is about to recount those words to support his argument.
