नास्मै हरास्त्राणि दिव्यानि प्रादास्यद्‌ भूगुनन्दन: । भूपाल! यदि कर्णमें कोई पाप या दोष होता तो भृगुनन्दन परशुराम इसे दिव्यास्त्र न देते

nāsmāi harāstrāṇi divyāni prādāsyad bhṛgunandanaḥ | bhūpāla! yadi karṇe pāpaṃ vā doṣo vā bhavet, tarhi bhṛgunandanaḥ paraśurāmaḥ asmai divyāstrāṇi na dadāt |

Duryodhana nói: “Tâu Đại vương! Bhṛgunandana (Paraśurāma) hẳn đã không bao giờ ban cho chàng những vũ khí thần diệu ấy, nếu trong Karṇa có chút tội lỗi hay vết nhơ đạo hạnh nào. Chính việc Paraśurāma trao cho chàng binh khí thiên giới là bằng chứng về sự xứng đáng của Karṇa.”
