तमापतन्तं विशिखं यमदण्डोपमत्विषम् | खड्गेन शितधारेण द्विधा चिच्छेद कौरव:,यमदण्डके समान प्रकाशित होनेवाले उस बाणको आते देख कुरुवंशी दुःशासनने तीखी धारवाले खड्गसे उसके दो टुकड़े कर डाले
tam āpatantaṁ viśikhaṁ yamadaṇḍopamatviṣam | khaḍgena śitadhāreṇa dvidhā ciccheda kauravaḥ ||
Sañjaya nói: Thấy mũi tên lao tới mình, rực sáng như cây trượng trừng phạt của Thần Chết Yama, người Kaurava (Duḥśāsana) liền dùng thanh kiếm sắc bén chém nó làm đôi. Cảnh ấy nêu bật sự chính xác lạnh lùng của kỹ nghệ chiến trường—ý đồ sát hại không gặp sự do dự mà gặp đòn phản kích tức thì, và khí cụ của tử vong được xem như vật phải chế ngự chứ không phải để khiếp sợ.
