Drona–Dhrishtadyumna Battle Description

The verse highlights the ethical ideal that power and territory are legitimate only when aligned with dharma: the land should be protected from lawlessness and governed for the flourishing of the righteous; moreover, even after establishing order, one may relinquish possession through a sanctioned act of dāna within yajña.
Nārada recounts that Paraśurāma, after making the earth free of marauders and populated by righteous people, formally donates the earth to the sage Kaśyapa during a great Aśvamedha sacrifice.
