Mahabharata 7.186.126Drona Parva, Adhyaya 186, Shloka 126

pāṇḍavānāṃ kurūṇāṃ ca garjatām itaretaram | tad-anantaraṃ eka-dūsare ko lakṣya karke garjate hue pāṇḍava tathā kaurava yoddhāoṃ meṃ punaḥ yuddha ārambha ho gayā | vahāṃ jitane vāhana aura sainika the, ve sabhī thak gaye the |

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the self-consuming nature of war: even when combatants are driven by pride and rage to renew fighting, the physical and moral costs accumulate, exhausting soldiers and resources alike—an implicit warning about the consequences of unchecked hostility.

Sañjaya reports that the Pāṇḍava and Kuru forces, shouting challenges at each other and taking aim, resume the battle; however, the scene is marked by widespread fatigue among both the warriors and their mounts/vehicles.
