Chapter 7: Dvīpa–Varṣa–Meru-varṇana
Description of the Dvīpa, Varṣas, and Mount Meru
mithunaṁ jāyate kāle samaṁ tac ca pravardhate | tulyarūpaguṇopetaṁ samaveṣaṁ tathaiva ca ||
Sañjaya thưa: “Đến đúng kỳ, đôi nam nữ sinh ra cùng lúc và lớn lên cùng nhau. Dáng hình, phẩm chất, và cả y phục bề ngoài của họ đều tương đồng.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights an original parity in creation: male and female arise together, develop together, and share comparable form, qualities, and outward appearance—suggesting ethical reflection on equality and mutuality rather than hierarchy.
Sanjaya is describing a general principle of generation and growth—how paired beings come into existence simultaneously and mature together—within his broader report and reflections in Bhishma Parva.
