Bhīṣma–Dhanaṃjaya Duel and the Opening Clash
गाड़ेयशरनुन्नानि प्रापतन्त महीतले । इसी प्रकार अर्जुनके छोड़े हुए बाणसमूह गंगानन्दन भीष्मके बाणोंसे छिन्न-भिन्न हो पृथ्वीपर सब ओर पड़े हुए थे

Sañjaya nói: Những mũi tên bị tên của Gāṅgeya (Bhīṣma) đánh bật đã rơi xuống mặt đất. Cũng vậy, các loạt tên Arjuna phóng ra bị tên của Bhīṣma—người con của sông Gaṅgā—chẻ nát, rồi nằm rải rác khắp nơi trên đất, cho thấy uy lực và tay nghề áp đảo của bậc lão tướng giữa bổn phận nghiệt ngã của chiến trường.
