Chapter 55: Bhīṣma’s onslaught, Arjuna’s counter, and Kṛṣṇa’s raised discus
दुःशासनादीत् भ्रातृश्च सर्वानेव च भारत | अन्यांश्व सुबहून् शूरान् युद्धाय समुपागतान्
duḥśāsanādīt bhrātṝś ca sarvān eva ca bhārata | anyāṁś ca bahūn śūrān yuddhāya samupāgatān ||
Sañjaya thưa: “Tâu đấng Bhārata (Dhṛtarāṣṭra), Duryodhana đã đến gần Duḥśāsana và tất cả các anh em của mình, lại còn đến với nhiều dũng sĩ khác đã tụ hội để ra trận.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights a wartime leadership moment: Duryodhana consolidates support by gathering his brothers and allied heroes. Ethically, it frames how collective resolve and persuasion can be used in service of a cause—here, the Kaurava war effort—inviting reflection on whether strategic unity is aligned with dharma or merely effective.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Duryodhana goes to Duḥśāsana, all his brothers, and many other warriors who have assembled for battle, setting the stage for Duryodhana’s subsequent exhortation to them.
