गौरुडव्यूह-रचना तथा अर्धचन्द्र-प्रत्यव्यूह

तत्राकरोद्‌ रथोपस्थान्‌ शून्यान्‌ शान्तनवो बहून्‌

tatrākarod rathopasthān śūnyān śāntanavo bahūn | jighāṃsantaṃ yudhāṃ śreṣṭha tadā āsīt tumulaṃ mahat ||

Sañjaya thưa: Tại đó, Bhīṣma—con của Śāntanu—đã khiến nhiều bệ chiến xa trở nên trống rỗng, không còn chiến sĩ. Khi những dũng tướng hàng đầu xông tới với ý định giết chóc, trận chiến bỗng dâng lên thành một cuộc hỗn chiến mênh mông, cuồng loạn.
