Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca | rājan śatasahasrāṇi tatra tatra padātīnām | nirmaryādīni yuddhāni tat te vakṣyāmi bhārata ||

Translation

Sañjaya thưa: Tâu Đại vương, trên chiến địa ấy, hàng trăm nghìn bộ binh giao chiến rải rác khắp nơi, cuộc chém giết đã vượt khỏi mọi khuôn phép và giới hạn. Hỡi bậc Bharata, nay thần sẽ thuật lại cho bệ hạ những cuộc đụng độ vô luật ấy; xin hãy lắng nghe.
