ततः किरीटी संरब्धो भीष्ममेवाभ्यधावत
tataḥ kirīṭī saṃrabdho bhīṣmam evābhyadhāvat | atāḍayan raṇe bhīṣmaṃ sahitāḥ sarvasṛñjayāḥ ||
Sañjaya nói: Rồi Arjuna, vị anh hùng đội mũ miện, bừng bừng quyết chí, lao thẳng đến Bhīṣma. Và toàn thể dũng sĩ Sṛñjaya, hợp làm một, đánh Bhīṣma trên chiến địa từ mọi phía, nhằm quấy nhiễu và dồn ép ông dữ dội trong cơn cuồng nộ của chiến tranh. Cảnh tượng này nêu bật đạo lý nghiệt ngã của chiến đấu kṣatriya: sức mạnh được tập trung để kìm hãm một bậc trưởng lão gần như vô địch, trong khi lòng kính trọng và bổn phận va chạm nhau giữa những tất yếu của trận mạc.
