इत्युक्त्वा तांस्तदा हंसान् स शेते शरतल्पग: । एवं कुरूणां पतिते शृज्गे भीष्मे महौजसि
ity uktvā tāṁs tadā haṁsān sa śete śaratālpagaḥ | evaṁ kurūṇāṁ patite śṛṅge bhīṣme mahaujasī ||
Sañjaya thưa: Nói xong như vậy với bầy thiên nga, Bhīṣma—đang nằm trên giường mũi tên—liền an nghỉ như cũ. Thế là khi Bhīṣma hùng lực, sức mạnh lớn lao và đỉnh cao vinh quang của nhà Kuru, đã ngã xuống, cơ nghiệp Kuru như thể chính đỉnh núi của mình sụp đổ, trở thành một bước ngoặt nghiêm trọng về đạo lý và chiến lược trong cuộc chiến.
