भीष्मरथाभिमुख्यं — Arjuna’s advance with Śikhaṇḍin; Duḥśāsana’s interception
अपोवाह रणे भीरून् कश्मलेनाभिसंवृतान् । यथा वैतरणी प्रेतान् प्रेतराजपुरं प्रति
apo vāha raṇe bhīrūn kaśmalenābhisaṃvṛtān | yathā vaitaraṇī pretān pretarājapuraṃ prati ||
Sañjaya nói: “Trong trận chiến, nó cuốn phăng kẻ khiếp nhược—những người bị tuyệt vọng và rối loạn bao phủ—như sông Vaitaraṇī đưa kẻ chết về thành của Chúa tể các vong linh. Vì thế, con sông như máu ấy xua kẻ nhát gan rời khỏi chiến địa, như thể họ đã ngất lịm.”
