भीष्मरथाभिमुख्यं — Arjuna’s advance with Śikhaṇḍin; Duḥśāsana’s interception
रथिनश्न रथैहीना वर्मिणस्तेजसा युता: । कुण्डलोष्णीषिण: सर्वे निष्काड्दविभूषणा:
sañjaya uvāca |
rathinaś ca rathair hīnā varmiṇas tejasā yutāḥ |
kuṇḍaloṣṇīṣiṇaḥ sarve niṣkāṇḍavibhūṣaṇāḥ ||
Sañjaya thưa: Nhiều dũng sĩ chiến xa đã bị tước mất chiến xa của mình; song họ vẫn khoác giáp, rực sáng oai phong trận mạc, ai nấy đeo khuyên tai và đội khăn mũ, trang sức bằng vòng cổ vàng và đai tay. Dẫu dung mạo đẹp như các vương tử cõi trời và dũng lực như Indra, họ vẫn bị thấy chạy tán loạn bằng chân như người thường—cho thấy trong chiến tranh, vận số và hoàn cảnh có thể lột bỏ cả địa vị lẫn sự điềm tĩnh của kẻ hùng mạnh.
