Adhyāya 90: Babhruvāhana’s Reception and the Commencement of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Aśvamedha
भवान् हि परिपाल्यो मे सर्वदैव प्रयत्नतः । साधूनां काड्क्षितं यस्मात् पितुर्वद्धस्य पालनम्
bhavān hi paripālyo me sarvadaiva prayatnataḥ | sādhūnāṁ kāṅkṣitaṁ yasmāt pitur vṛddhasya pālanam ||
“Con quả phải chăm nom cha mọi lúc, với hết lòng nỗ lực; bởi người hiền lương hằng mong con phụng dưỡng người cha đã già.” Như thế, người con khẳng định hiếu đạo là cốt lõi của dharma—phụng sự cha mẹ, nhất là khi tuổi xế chiều, là lý tưởng đạo đức được bậc đức hạnh tán dương.
