वज्रदत्तेन सह अर्जुनयुद्धम्
Arjuna’s engagement with Vajradatta during the Aśvamedha circuit
यह देख अर्जुनको बड़ा क्रोध हुआ। उन्होंने उस हाथीके ऊपर केंचुलसे निकले हुए सर्पोोके समान भयंकर तथा प्रज्वलित अग्निके तुल्य तेजस्वी बाणोंका प्रहार किया
tad dṛṣṭvā arjunasya mahān krodho 'bhavat | sa tasmin hastini kañculāt niṣkrāntān sarpān iva bhīṣaṇān prajvalitāgnitulya-tejasvinaḥ śarān prāharat |
Thấy vậy, Arjuna bừng lên cơn thịnh nộ dữ dội. Chàng giáng lên con voi ấy những mũi tên rực cháy—ghê gớm như rắn trườn ra khỏi lớp da lột, sáng chói như lửa vừa bùng—báo hiệu quyết tâm dùng sức mạnh dứt khoát để ngăn chặn mối đe dọa bạo tàn.
