Abhimanyunidhana-prakāśaḥ — Vasudeva–Kṛṣṇa–Subhadrā–Kuntī śoka-saṃvāda

दिनानि पज्च तद् युद्धमभूत् परमदारुणम् | ततो द्रोण: परिश्रान्तो धृष्टद्युम्नवशं गत:
dināni pañca tad yuddham abhūt paramadāruṇam | tato droṇaḥ pariśrānto dhṛṣṭadyumnavaśaṃ gataḥ |
Trận chiến cực kỳ tàn khốc ấy kéo dài năm ngày. Rồi Droṇa, kiệt sức vì gánh nặng giao tranh, rơi vào tay Dhṛṣṭadyumna và bị giết—một đoạn cho thấy ngay cả dũng tướng bậc nhất, khi bị mệt mỏi và hoàn cảnh khuất phục, cũng trở nên mong manh trước hệ quả của chiến tranh và những lời thệ nguyện đã mang từ trước.
