तस्मिंस्ते पृथिवीपाला द्रोणपार्षतसंगरे । नानादिगागता वीरा: प्रायशो निधनं गता:,धृष्टद्युम्न और द्रोणके उस भीषण संग्राममें नाना दिशाओंसे आये हुए भूपाल अधिक संख्यामें मारे गये
tasmiṁs te pṛthivīpālā droṇapārṣata-saṅgare | nānā-dig-āgatā vīrāḥ prāyaśo nidhanaṁ gatāḥ ||
Vāsudeva nói: Trong trận chiến kinh hoàng giữa Droṇa và con trai của Pārṣata (Dhṛṣṭadyumna), vô số vua chúa chiến binh từ bốn phương kéo đến đã ngã xuống hàng loạt. Câu kệ nhấn mạnh cái giá bao trùm và vô phân biệt của chiến tranh: ngay cả những bậc quân vương từ xa cũng bị cuốn đi bởi đà bạo lực, nhắc người nghe về gánh nặng đạo lý nghiêm trọng của kẻ khơi mào hay duy trì cuộc xung đột ấy.
