यस्मिंस्ते कुण्डले बद्धे तदा द्विजवरेण वै । उस समय उनकी दृष्टि बेलोंपर ही लगी हुई थी (वे कहाँ गिरते हैं
yasmiṁs te kuṇḍale baddhe tadā dvijavareṇa vai |
Vaiśaṃpāyana nói: “Khi ấy, vị brāhmaṇa ưu tú đã buộc đôi khuyên tai ấy vào một tấm da nai. Mắt ông chỉ dõi theo những dây leo; ông không để ý chúng rơi xuống nơi nào. Vì thế, hầu như mọi dây leo ông chặt đều rơi đúng lên tấm da nai ấy—nơi đôi khuyên tai đã được buộc lại.”
