Mind as Charioteer; Kṣetrajña, Tapas, and Dhyāna-Yoga

Adhyātma-Upadeśa

रथेन रथिनं पश्य क्लिश्यमानमचेतनम्‌

rathena rathinaṃ paśya kliśyamānam acetanam | yāvat rathasya gatiḥ panthāḥ tāvat rathena gacchati buddhimān | yatra rathasya mārgaḥ samāpyate tatra taṃ tyaktvā padbhyā yātrāṃ karoti ||

Thần Vāyu nói: “Hãy nhìn kẻ ngu: tuy được xe chở đi, đến chân núi dốc vẫn phải chịu khổ. Bậc trí đi xe chỉ đến nơi con đường còn cho phép; khi đường xe chấm dứt, người ấy bỏ xe lại và tiếp tục đi bộ.” Lời dạy là: hãy dùng phương tiện đúng chỗ—đừng bám chấp khi nó đã vượt quá phạm vi, cũng đừng khước từ khi nó còn hữu ích.
