अतिवादो>तितिक्षा च मात्सर्यमभिमानिता | अश्रद्दधानता चैव तामसं वृत्तमिष्यते,अतिवाद, अक्षमा, मत्सरता, अभिमान और अश्रद्धाको भी तमोगुणका बर्ताव माना गया है
ativādo 'titikṣā ca mātsaryam abhimānitā | aśraddadhānatā caiva tāmasaṁ vṛttam iṣyate ||
Thần Vāyu nói: Lời lẽ tranh cãi quá mức, sự bất nhẫn (thiếu nhẫn nại), lòng đố kỵ, tự phụ và sự bất tín—tất cả đều được xem là lối hành xử phát sinh từ tamas (u tối và trì trệ). Về mặt đạo đức, những tật ấy làm mờ trí phân biệt và kéo con người rời xa kỷ luật cùng nếp sống hợp dharma.
