Arjuna–Vāsudeva framed dialogue
अव्यक्तबीजप्रभवो बुद्धिस्कन्धमयो महान् । महाहड्कारविटप इन्द्रियाड्कुरकोटर:
avyaktabījaprabhavo buddhiskandhamayo mahān | mahāhaṅkāraviṭapa indriyāṅkurakoṭaraḥ | chittvā cāmaratāṁ prāpya jahāti mṛtyujanmanī ||
Thần Vāyu nói: “Cây lớn của kiếp hữu thân này sinh từ hạt giống vô hiển (avyakta). Thân cây là trí (buddhi), cành nhánh là đại ngã chấp (ahaṅkāra), và những hốc rỗng là các căn (giác quan). Ai thật sự hiểu điều ấy và dùng thanh gươm tối thắng của tri kiến chặt đổ nó, người ấy đạt bất tử và lìa bỏ xiềng xích của tử vong và tái sinh.”

Embodied life is compared to a tree rooted in an unmanifest cause, structured by buddhi, ahaṅkāra, and the senses. Liberation comes when one understands this construction and ‘cuts’ attachment to it through discriminative knowledge, thereby transcending the cycle of birth and death.
