Adhyāya 34: Kṣetrajña-Lakṣaṇa and the Araṇi Metaphor
Mind–Intellect Allegory
arjuna uvāca kva nu sā brāhmaṇī kṛṣṇa kva cāsau brāhmaṇarṣabhaḥ | yābhyāṃ siddhir iyaṃ prāptā tāv ubhī vada me 'cyuta ||
The verse models dhārmic inquiry: Arjuna does not merely admire an achievement (siddhi) but asks about the persons and causes behind it, implying that true attainment is rooted in exemplary character and right means, not in results alone.
In the Aśvamedhika Parva dialogue, Arjuna addresses Kṛṣṇa and asks to identify and describe a Brahmin woman and an outstanding Brahmin through whom a notable ‘siddhi’ was attained, requesting their background and significance.
