Nārada–Devamata Dialogue on Prāṇa, Apāna, and Udāna

शुक्राच्छोणितसंसृष्टात्‌ पूर्व प्राण: प्रवर्तते । प्राणेन विकृते शुक्रे ततो5पान: प्रवर्तते

Transliteration

śukrāc choṇita-saṃsṛṣṭāt pūrvaṃ prāṇaḥ pravartate | prāṇena vikṛte śukre tato 'pānaḥ pravartate ||

Translation

Nārada giảng: “Khi tinh dịch (śukra) hòa lẫn với huyết (śoṇita), trước hết prāṇa—khí lực sinh mệnh—khởi động và vận hành tại đó. Khi tinh dịch được prāṇa làm biến đổi, thì tiếp theo apāna—khí lực hướng xuống—mới trở nên hoạt động.”
