Even in the forest stage of life, actions are framed by purpose and restraint: gathering flowers and water for ritual needs reflects disciplined living and dharma-oriented intention rather than self-indulgence.
Some people report that a person has gone to the Yamunā to enter the water, specifically to collect flowers and a water-pot—an explanatory detail that situates the scene within routine āśrama duties.
