Educational Q&A

Bhishma frames dharma-instruction through precedent: ethical clarity about vows (śapatha) is best conveyed by recalling an authoritative ancient example, especially in contexts like pilgrimage where truthfulness and restraint are tested.

Bhishma begins a new illustrative story: he tells Yudhishthira that an old incident occurred during a pilgrimage involving an oath, and he invites him to listen to that account as a lesson in dharma.
