Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes dharmic legitimacy through sacred origin: identity and authority are anchored in yajña (sacrifice) and the consecrated āhavanīya fire, suggesting that spiritual stature is tied to ritual purity and divine sanction.

A figure named Jagadagni speaks and declares that he has been born from the gods’ sacrificial fire; on that basis he instructs the addressed woman (‘O fair one’) to recognize him by the renowned name Jamadagni.
