Puṣkara-Śapatha Itihāsa (Agastya–Indra Dispute at the Tīrthas) | पुष्कर-शपथ-आख्यानम्
गौतम उवाच गोदमो दमतो<5धूमो5दमस्ते समदर्शनात् । विद्धि मां गौतमं कृत्ये यातुधानि निबोध माम्
gautama uvāca | godamo damato dhūmo 'damas te samadarśanāt | viddhi māṃ gautamaṃ kṛtye yātudhāni nibodha mām ||
Gautama nói: “Hỡi Kṛtyā! Ta được gọi là Godama vì ta đã chế ngự ‘go’—tức các căn, các giác quan—bằng sự tự chế. Ta như ngọn lửa không khói, rạng ngời và không bị che mờ. Vì ta nhìn muôn loài bằng cái thấy bình đẳng, ngươi không thể khuất phục ta—cũng chẳng ai khác có thể. Hãy biết ta, hỡi Kṛtyā, là Gautama; và hãy hiểu ta, hỡi yātudhānī.”
