तस्मात्‌ प्रसाद भगवन्‌ कर्तुमहसि नः प्रभो । न देव्यां सम्भवेत्‌ पुत्रो भवत: सुरसत्तम । धैयदिव निगृह्लीष्व तेजो ज्वलितमुत्तमम्‌

Transliteration

tasmāt prasāda bhagavan kartum arhasi naḥ prabho | na devyāṁ sambhavet putro bhavataḥ surasattama | dhairyād iva nigṛhṇīṣva tejo jvalitam uttamam ||

Translation

Bhishma nói: “Vì vậy, ô Đấng Chí Tôn, xin thương xót chúng con, ô Chủ tể. Ô bậc tối thượng trong hàng chư thần, xin đừng để có một người con nào sinh ra từ Nữ thần. Với sự tự chế kiên định, xin Ngài kìm giữ trong chính mình nguồn năng lực tối thượng đang rực cháy ấy.”
