गवां लोकवर्णनं तथा गोप्रदानफलश्रुतिः

प्रचोदनं देवकृतं गवां कर्मसु वर्तताम् । पूर्वमेवाक्षरं चान्यदभिधेयं तत: परम्
bhīṣma uvāca | pracodanaṃ devakṛtaṃ gavāṃ karmasu vartatām | pūrvam evākṣaraṃ cānyad abhidhēyaṃ tataḥ param |
Bhishma nói: “Việc thúc giục (chúng) vốn do chư thiên đặt ra trước hết cho đàn gia súc khi làm công việc thiêng. Bởi vậy, quy tắc đầu tiên là: đóng ách và điều khiển bò đực vì lễ tế thì đáng khen; còn đóng ách hay đánh đập, xua đuổi chúng vì những việc khác, ngoài tế lễ, thì đáng chê trách.”
