Gopradāna-phalasaṃprāpti: Nāciketa’s Vision of Vaivasvata’s Realms (गोप्रदानफलसम्प्राप्तिः — नाचिकेतोपाख्यानम्)

तस्मादन्नं परं लोके सर्वलोकेषु कथ्यते । अन्नाद्‌ बल॑ च तेजश्न प्राणिनां वर्धते सदा

tasmād annaṃ paraṃ loke sarvalokeṣu kathyate | annād balaṃ ca tejaś ca prāṇināṃ vardhate sadā ||

Bhīṣma nói: “Vì vậy, thức ăn được tuyên xưng là tối thượng trong cõi đời này—thật vậy, trong mọi cõi. Từ thức ăn, sức lực và ánh lực sinh mệnh của chúng sinh luôn tăng trưởng. Bởi thế, trong khuôn phép của dharma, nuôi dưỡng và nâng đỡ kẻ khác là bổn phận hàng đầu, vì sự sống, khí lực và năng lực hành thiện đều nương nơi dưỡng nuôi.”
