Educational Q&A

Considerate charity—giving what protects and comforts others (here, a woollen covering for the ears)—is praised as dharma and is said to yield auspicious posthumous results, symbolized by an unobstructed journey to heavenly realms in a white celestial vehicle.

Nārada is describing the fruit (phala) of a specific act of dāna: donating a kambala for ear-protection, whether given plainly or wrapped in another cloth. He states the donor attains heaven without hindrance, conveyed by a white vehicle.
