Bhūmi-dānasya Māhātmya

The Pre-eminence of Land-Gift

युधिष्ठिरने कहा--कुरुकुलपुंगव! भरतश्रेष्ठ! बगीचे लगाने और जलाशय बनवानेका जो फल होता है, उसीको अब मैं आपके मुखसे सुनना चाहता हूँ ।।

bhīṣma uvāca | supradarśā balavatī citrā dhātuvibhūṣitā | upetā sarvabhūtaiś ca śreṣṭhā bhūmir ihocyate ||

Yudhiṣṭhira thưa: “Hỡi bậc kiệt xuất của dòng Kuru, hỡi đấng tối thượng trong giống Bharata! Nay con muốn chính từ miệng Người được nghe về quả báo của việc trồng vườn cây và xây dựng ao hồ.” Bhīṣma đáp: “Tâu Đại vương! Ở đời này, đất được gọi là tốt nhất là đất đẹp mắt, vững bền và phì nhiêu, phong phú đa dạng, được tô điểm bởi nhiều khoáng chất, và là nơi muôn loài sinh linh cư ngụ.”
