Adhyāya 57: Tapas–Dāna Phala
On the Fruits of Austerity and Giving
निषीदेत्यब्रवीद् धीमान् सान्त्वयन् पुरुषर्षभ: । तब उन पुरुषप्रवर बुद्धिमान् मुनिने राजाको आशीर्वाद देकर सान्त्वना प्रदान करते हुए कहा--'“आओ बैठो”'
niṣīdety abravīd dhīmān sāntvayan puruṣarṣabhaḥ |
Vị hiền triết, bậc trượng phu tối thượng, vừa ban phúc vừa an ủi nhà vua, rồi dịu dàng nói: “Hãy đến, ngồi xuống.”
भीष्म उवाच
A dharmic teacher approaches a ruler with compassion and dignity: blessing first, then offering calm, respectful guidance. The ethical emphasis is on reassurance, hospitality, and the proper tone of counsel.
In Bhishma’s narration, a wise sage comforts and blesses a king (addressed as ‘best of men’) and invites him to sit, signaling the start of a composed, respectful exchange of instruction or advice.
