Bhīṣma nói: “Trong lãnh thổ của vua Kāśī, một thợ săn rời làng, mang theo mũi tên tẩm độc, rồi bắt đầu cuộc săn—đi tìm một con nai.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse sets up an ethical exemplum: harmful intention and harmful means (a poisoned arrow used for hunting) are presented as the seed of later suffering and moral consequence. It frames a discussion on dharma by showing how choices made in ordinary contexts can carry grave ethical weight.
Bhīṣma begins a story situated in the realm of the king of Kāśī. A hunter leaves the village carrying a poison-coated arrow and goes into the wild to hunt a deer, initiating the chain of events that the subsequent verses will unfold.
