ब्राह्मणपूजा-राजधर्मः | Royal Duty of Honoring Learned Brahmins
किमागमनकृत्य ते सर्व प्रब्रूहि मे नूप । यत् ते प्रियं तत् करिष्ये न मे5त्रास्ति विचारणा
kim āgamanakṛtyaṃ te sarvaṃ prabrūhi me nṛpa | yat te priyaṃ tat kariṣye na me 'trāsti vicāraṇā ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Muôn tâu đại vương, xin hãy nói trọn vẹn vì việc gì mà ngài đến đây; hãy kể cho ta mọi điều tường tận. Điều gì ngài quý trọng—việc gì ngài mong muốn—ta sẽ làm. Trong việc này lòng ta không hề do dự.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the ethic of responsive duty: a trusted elder or counselor invites full disclosure of the king’s purpose and commits to act for the king’s welfare without wavering, emphasizing loyalty, clarity, and readiness to serve dharma through action.
Bhīṣma addresses a king who has approached him, asking the reason for the visit and requesting a complete account. He assures the king that he will carry out whatever the king desires, indicating steadfast support and willingness to help.
