Educational Q&A

The verse teaches comprehensive reverence and humility: one seeks protection from the entire divine and cosmic order, acknowledging that dharma is upheld not only by named deities but also by the vast, often-unseen sacred forces that govern time and destiny.

In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma is instructing and blessing through religious discourse. Here he concludes (or seals) an extended enumeration/invocation by praying that all divine beings—explicitly mentioned and unmentioned—along with cosmic elements like the sky, constellations, and planets, protect the listeners.
