Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical-religious posture required for sacred recitation: inner discipline (prayata), purity, and humility (prāñjali). It implies that reverent intention and self-control are integral to transmitting and receiving dharmic teachings.

Vāyudeva addresses Yudhiṣṭhira and describes how the speaker/reciter, after becoming purified and composed, begins a formal recitation—starting from the beginning—of a compiled litany of names associated with revered sages.
