Bhīṣma’s Yogic Departure, Royal Cremation, and Gaṅgā’s Lament
so ’yaṁ nārāyaṇaḥ śrīmān dīptyā paramayā yutaḥ | vrataṁ yathāvat tac cīrṇtvā dvārakāṁ punar āgamat ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Nārāyaṇa hiển vinh ấy, rạng ngời ánh quang tối thượng, đã giữ trọn và hoàn tất đúng phép lời nguyện (vrata) của mình, rồi lại trở về Dvārakā.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores dharma as disciplined follow-through: a vow (vrata) should be undertaken and completed properly (yathāvat), reflecting integrity, self-control, and fidelity to one’s chosen duty.
Bhīṣma describes Nārāyaṇa as supremely radiant and auspicious, stating that after completing a vowed observance in the prescribed manner, he returned again to the city of Dvārakā.
